In their "Can You Hear?" Unit, 2nd Grade Students study a variety of musicians and artists. researching their similarities or some common theme. The 10th musician they study is the famous jazz saxophonist, Charlie Parker. In conjunction with the study of Charlie, is our study of the famous artist of musical collages, Romare Bearden. Romare used a variety of pictures, scraps, material, etc. in order to make vibrant and quirky collages--some highlighting a musical theme. Our 2nd graders utilized Bearden's technique to create their own lively musical collages!!
